StorageCraft Partner Marketing Toolkit FAQ

Flyer

Q. What software do I need in order to add my logo and customized text?

A. We have used the forms functionality in Adobe Acrobat Pro to provide the customization of the PDF flyers. The Edit Forms feature of Acrobat should meet most or all of your customization needs. However, if you need to make additional changes, we recommend you refer to Adobe’s documentation.

Q. My logo is too small and looks terrible when I add it to the flyer. Why?

A. For best results, before adding your logo to the flyer please pre-size it to approximately 3” W x 1” H and 300 dpi in a horizontal layout using a graphics program such as Adobe Photoshop. Save your logo as a PNG (*.png) image with a transparent background. Adobe Acrobat does allow you to change the shape of the image box simply following these steps:

  1. Click Forms in the upper left-hand tool bar. Then go to Add or Edit Fields and highlight the text box.
  2. Then right click on the text box, click on Properties to bring up the Text Field Properties window, and then click on Options.
  3. Select your alignment preference.
  4. Check the Multi-line and Scroll long text boxes. Click Close.
  5. Choose “Close Form Editing” in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  6. From here you will be able to expand the text box horizontally and vertically as needed.
  7. Type in your text.

See Adobe Acrobat documentation for more Edit Forms options.

Q. How do I change the font, font size or color of the customizable text in my flyer?

A. To make adjustments to the font, font size, and/or text color in Adobe Acrobat Pro go to Forms>Add or Edit Fields…. Right click on the text box and then click Properties>Appearance. You will be able to make adjustments to the font and font size and text color. Arial Narrow is the font that was used in the design of the flyer so for uniformity, we recommend that font be used in any customized text.

Q. When I print my flyer on my printer, I see these ugly little lines in each corner. What are they, and how do I get rid of them?

A. The flyer template was designed to be printed by a professional printer so the image would “bleed” off the edge of the piece without a border. Those ugly little lines are called crop marks and they tell the printer where to trim the piece after it is printed. If you want to print the direct mailer on your own printer, use the flyer version that has “no crops” in the title. Please note: the ugly little lines will disappear when you print, but there will be a white border approximately ¼-inch to ½-inch wide on all four sides of the flyer.
