A Note Before Starting

We have used Adobe Photoshop and the forms functionality available in Adobe Acrobat (Acrobat Pro 9.5 is pictured in the examples below, though Acrobat X is preferred) to provide the customization in the pieces of the toolkit. These customization options should meet most or all of your needs, but we recognize that you need maintain your own branding so we have kept all customization options editable. If you need to make changes, we recommend you refer to Adobe’s documentation.

Customizing the Direct Mail Pieces

The direct mail pieces has three possible areas of customization: a logo, copy, and contact information.

Adding a Logo

Please Note: For best results, please have your logo pre-sized to approximately  3” W x 1” H and 300 dpi in a horizontal layout (as close to a 16:2 ratio as possible). PNG  (*.png) format works best.

  1. Open the flyer in Adobe Acrobat Pro (Adobe Acrobat 9.5 shown here).
  2. Click on “Click here to add logo.” The “Select Icon” window will appear. Click on Browse…
  3. Change the “Files of type:” to PNG (*.png) and browse to your logo’s location. Click Select.  Your logo will preview in the Select Icon window. Then click OK. Please note: It may take a few seconds for your logo to appear in the logo box.

To Add Your Custom Headline, Text and Contact Information

  1. Highlight the text, “Replace this text with your custom copy” or “Replace this text with your contact  information.”
  2. Type your text and contact information.
  3. If you need more space than that provided, click Forms in the upper left-hand tool bar. Then go to Add or Edit Fields and highlight the text box.
  4. Then right click on the text box, click on Properties to bring up the Text Field Properties window, then click on Options.
  5. Select your alignment preference.
  6. Then check the “Multi-line” and “Scroll long text” boxes. Then click Close. Then click “Close Form Editing” in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
  7. From here you will be able to expand the text box horizontally as well as vertically as needed.

Customizing the Flyers

Customizing the Pamphlet

The “Why You Need Disaster Recovery” pamphlet has two areas to customize: a logo and your contact information.

To Add Your Logo

  1. Open Why You Need Backup and Disaster Recovery pamphlet in Adobe Acrobat (Acrobat Pro 9.5 pictured here).
  2. Go to the last page of the pamphlet, Page 17.

Customizing the Web Ads

The web ads have two areas of customization: a logo and custom copy.

To Add Your Logo

  1. Open the Photoshop (PSD) file in Adobe Photoshop. (Adobe Photoshop CS5 pictured here.)
  2. Click on Windows > Animation. This brings up the animation time line at the bottom of the screen.
  3. With the first frame highlighted (see Step 2), go to the Layers Pallet and highlight the top two layers, “Your Logo Here” and “Rounded Rectangle 1.”
  4. Hit Delete.
  5. Click File > Open and browse for the logo you want to use. For best results, please pre-size your logo in a horizontal layout (3” W x .75” H for the 728×90 banner and 2.5” W x .75” H for the 300×250 medium rectangle ad and as close to a 16:2 ratio as possible) and save as a PNG (*.png) file with a transparent background.
  6. Copy your logo by doing the following: Control A to select it or Control C to copy it.
  7. Then go to the Web ad file (see Arrow 7) and use “Control V” to paste it in.
  8. Size your logo as needed by holding down the Shift key and dragging the corner of the logo. (See Arrow 8).

To Add Your Custom Copy

  1. Select the final slide. (See Arrow 9).
  2. Select the text tool. (See Arrow 10).
  3. Type in  your text and hit enter.
  4. Then go to File > Save for Web & Devices…
  5. Please refer to Photoshop documentation for addition customization options.
