As Dominic puts it,
Over the years, we implemented many disaster recovery solutions, but none met our requirements in the long run. StorageCraft is what Spencomp was looking for in terms of reliability and flexibility. We use the IT edition [of StorageCraft® ShadowProtect®]. It’s a great product. We’ve been able to back up and restore physical machines and it allows us to restore P2V. We can virtualize a backup and it’s great for migrating over to different platforms. It’s a lot of help to us, but more importantly, to our customers.
But it didn’t stop there. Todd explained that they needed more than just reliable backups, they also needed a place to put them and a way to get them there.
We were having problems with our other backup and disaster recovery solutions so we decided to go our own route and use our own hardware built around the StorageCraft solution.
According to Dominic, Spencomp got to work and eventually put together the solution they needed.
A little more than two years ago we invested in servers, SANs, dual firewalls, and an SSL access appliance to a collocation facility to start our own DR site. We tried many other solutions for backing up customer’s data and moving it offsite, but none of those solutions worked really well.
Dominic found that ShadowProtect and StorageCraft® ImageManager, both pieces of the StorageCraft Recover-Ability solution, were critical in the implementation of their disaster recovery solution as it allowed them to replicate client backups to the disaster recovery site quickly, easily, and safely.
StorageCraft addressed our issues with StorageCraft ImageManager and their StorageCraft® ShadowStream® technology, which is now the only solution we use to seamlessly transfer a safe copy of our customer’s data. The copies allow us to recover data or entire servers in the event that a site goes down. We also have the possibility to virtualize their environment and give them access remotely through the use of an SSL-encrypted connection.
