I would be considered the “newby” here at StorageCraft since I’m the newest member of the Marketing Events team. My background is in event planning. I graduated in Hospitality and Tourism Management and have worked in events my entire adult career. My main expertise lies in helping individuals rent out event spaces in a hotel and making sure they have everything they need right at their fingertips.  When I made the switch to Storagecraft, I learned that planning events for trade shows is different because you don’t have everything at your disposal all the time.

Last year alone, StorageCraft attended over 200 events. If you’re not on top of your game, there are many things that can go wrong when it comes to the logistics. Today, I want to give some insight into what it really takes to pull off an event.

First things first, you must be the master gatherer of information. You need to know the who, what, where, when, and why of every event. Sometimes trying to find all of the information can seem like a flashback episode of “Where in the World is Carmen San Diego”. Luckily our marketing team is like a well-trained hound dog ready to sniff out any information we can find. (Sorry marketing team if you find that analogy offensive).

Once we have found out all of the information, we need about a show, it’s time to create a task list. A task list is essential to be sure that everything is completed before the show and to make sure that it will run as smoothly as possible. We have recently been testing out a new trade show management software called ShowGo, which helps us with our calendar of events, contacts, task list, and inventory so we can check things off the list as we go.

Lastly, shipping is key! With as many shows as we do each year, shipping can be a nightmare. We need to make sure that we have done our part to ensure that the packages get to their destination. In any given box we pack items such as pull-up banners, projectors, tablecloths, company flyers, and brochures, all our booths, and of course tchotchkes! It’s imperative that you find a transportation and logistics provider that you trust who is also easy to work with. Who knows, you might end up with new best friends if you see them enough.

I hope that this has brought just a glimpse of what we do here at StorageCraft to pull off an event as we strive to provide the best backup and recovery products on the market.
